peter
my rabbit is blind. a while ago my mom brought him to school. her class was doing a unit on living things so she brought him so they could see a living thing. at that time we were not aware of any blindness. he did not act blind and his eyes looked normal to us. one of the teachers at the school told my mom peter was blind because of the cloudiness she saw in her eyes. when peter came home i tried to test for his blindness. i held a cracker on his left side. he didn't see it until i moved it. then he awkuardly (how do you spell this word?) moved toward it and ate it. i tried the right side and he saw it immediately and moved directly to it. when he ran around on the floor he seemed fine. he didn't bump into anything and explored as he normally did. then this weekend my dad let him out and he ran into the wall. not hard but enough to let us know that he didn't see it. i let him out later that day and again he ran into the wall and this time he also ran into the arm chair twice. last night i let him out last night and he ran into the wall, his cage, the tv stand, all multiple times. i put him back in the cage because i felt it was cruel to continue let him run into things. now my question is, do you let a ten year old blind rabbit live? he's almost eleven and what kind of quality life can he live in a cage the size of a side table? what should i do? any advice?

Hey,
I am so sorry to hear about Peter. It is so sad to hear that he is blind. I am not sure of the quality of life that a rabbit would have if it is blind. I think it all depends on you, because you could let Peter out and make sure that the area is padded so that Peter can't run into anything. But Peter is old, so it is probably time to start making peace with that. But i am sure whatever you decide will be okay.
Love Trish
